OCCUPY OAKLAND CALLS FOR A GENERAL STRIKE!
The Battle of Oakland escalates! Not two mos. young this new era of protest is already fully engaged in the struggle against what it perceives as the uber-class and its strangle hold on power. The right has been screaming bloody murder lately about Class Warfare flaring once in America. This was it seems not a problem, until some of us started to fight back.

BEACH REPORT: local Election edition
Beach reports election edition is short since to be honest I wasn't much interested in most of the local elections. The three below however deserved comment and a few even a pick. In any event go out and vote next week.
Whelan or Polistina?
In good conscience, I cannot tell anyone to vote for either of these two. Whelan though is particularly odious for an endless variety of reasons. Let's just say Jim Whelan sucks. He's the man who single - handedly destroyed AC with his lovely dune project. Now of course, running for his electoral life he agrees that its blocking the view ( but, not really.) When I once told him as much, he let me have it with both barrels. You see, back then Jim was defending AC from the Atlantic Ocean and what could be more noble and how dare I defend "The view?" Oh well, that was yesterday's party line wasn't it Jim? As for Mr. Polistina he's young handsome and rich the perfect GOP candidate and his name even starts with POL so he's a natural. If your particularly shallow politically, he's your perfect candidate, I guess? Thumbs down on these two, I recommend you do a write in here.
Ex. MAYOR TIMMAY vs. Mike Advena
I urge Ventnor's voters to permanently deep six ex. Mayor ( he thought for life) TIMMAY Kreischer's attempt at a political comeback. It's appropriate though he should run using the sewer system as a prop, because that's exactly where this ugly troll like creature dwells. Advena as his political ads say knows how to play well with others, Tim doesn't, that's for sure. Ventnor needs to continue to move forward not go backwards to the corrupt tyrannical TIMMAY era. Its simply going to take more then 4 yrs. to repair the damage TIM and gang inflicted on Ventnor over 14 yrs. of mis-rule. ADVENA gets my thumbs up here.
TIM MANCUSO vs. JESSE O. KURTZ
Its time for a change in AC's 6th district folks. I like the youthful vigor and community mindedness of my young friend local AM radio personality Jesse O. Kurtz. Jesse has been an ally of mine on more then a few local issues, especially on the dune project. In other words, like myself he is not a rigid ideologue. I believe he'll be flexible, creative and pragmatic when it comes to local issues. Tim Mancuso has had power way to long and we all know what power does to people who hold it too long, don't we? He needs to move on. The voters in AC need some fresh blood on the Council and Jesse more then fills that bill. Smart & extremely well spoken, a true "native"son of Atlantic City. Jesse has what I feel is the city's best interests at heart. Let's face facts folks we desperately need new young leadership in AC. The present group have managed to lose most of the cities sovereignty to an unelected Commission selected by the Gov. ( the CRDA) and they all deserve a boot ASAP. Anyway, Jesse O. Kurtz is who I'd vote for if I was a resident of AC's 6 th district today. I repeat, AC needs new leadership and JESSE O. KURTZ fits the bill!
Go out and VOTE folks, local elections to some extent are really what's still left of our once flourishing democracy. Above the local level for the most part its all determined by CORP. domination and $$ anymore.

#OccupySupply Delivers Propane, Tents, and Refrigeration to #OccupyKStreet
| By: Ryan Cook Tuesday October 25, 2011 6:25 am | |
Thanks to your generous donations to the#OccupySupply fund, we were able to purchase propane tanks so that #OccupyKStreet can cook without trying to use the sun, and the people living there can eat warm food. 100% of all the funds we receive will go to purchasing supplies that FDL Members will be delivering to #Occupy encampments across the country.
Jane and I woke up early yesterday morning and took a ride to the Target to buy supplies for people encamped at #OccupyKStreet. We then had to go to Maryland to buy propane, which is not sold in DC. It was a bit of an adventure but we managed to procure everything we set out to get. We used funds that were generously donated by people all across the country to the FDL Membership Program’s #OccupySuppy fund.
It has been a few days since Jane, Jon Walker and I were down on K Street delivering supplies they had previously requested, so we wanted to check in to see if their needs have changed. The camp had once again grown dramatically in only a few days. We also dropped off another tent and some supplies for refrigeration and hygiene. We had to get creative with the refrigeration, since it is not realistic to drag out a giant freezer and plug it into a tree. The kitchen crew were delighted with the freezer bags.
With cold weather approaching, the priority of the FDL Membership #OccupySupply program is helping people not only at #OccupyKStreet, but at #Occupy encampments across the country brace for winter. In DC, the weather forecast is showing mild weather in the mid to upper 60′s all week long. But it will not be the case for long, and cold temperatures are already hitting occupations in the north. So this time Jane, Jon and I brought along Matt McKinnon and Bruce Olsson from the Machinist’s Union with us to advise the people living at the camp on winterizing. Between them they had decades’ worth of experience in protesting in harsh conditions and protecting their people for extended periods of time. We spoke with representatives of the #OccupyKStreet comfort and winterizing committees, and we will be going to the winterizing committee meeting this Wednesday night t hear the plans they are developing and learn more about how we can best help them.
I got the chance to meet some amazing people yesterday. Rooja, who works in the finance department and on the winterizing committee; Austen who has been here for 4 days now; Kenny who maintains clothing and blankets to keep people comfortable; Craig who has been taking amazing photos and JC and Josh who operate the kitchen. They were all really interesting to speak with and very appreciative of the fact that we keep coming back to ask them what they need, and then bring it to them. They cannot thank you all enough for your support during this difficult effort, with more and more people arriving every day. And I cannot express in words how good it feels to help where we can. I hope that you all will be able to visit one of these occupations and witness firsthand the passion, dedication, and commitment these individuals have.

Camp at OccupyKStreet
Kevin Gosztola begins his 8 city tour to occupations in the midwest today, where he will be doing the same thing — joining FDL members to bring winterizing supplies to occupations in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. Click here to donate to the FDL Membership #OccupySupply fund.
MY TAKE:
The Occupy movement continues to grow and garner support from all directions. OCCUPYAC's Organizers should read this as they prepare to set up somewhere in AC soon.

#OCCUPYAC
As the song lyric goes, "I went down to the demonstration to get my fair share of the Peace." The planning has begun in earnest to start an Occupation in AC and a site has been chosen, but you'll have to wait a bit before its announced by the organizing Committee. Anyway, it was a thoroughly pleasant two and half hrs. and the time simply flew by. Different speakers got up and spoke in the informal General Assembly that was held and a consensus was reached to meet again next Sat. @ the same place, in front of Brighton Park in AC right by the Boardwalk @ the Korean War Memorial amphitheater @ 1PM. I for one intend to go back next week. Where this is all going to go to be honest is anybody's guess ? Anyway, everyone interested should come out and join in. To find more info about this new Occupation site go to http://www.facebook.com/OccupyAtlanticCity

ANOTHER TAKE ON THE #OWS MOVEMENT
The Occupy Wall Street Movement
| By: Stop Motion Thursday October 20, 2011 9:45 pm | |

"Inspiration" created by photosteve101 on flickr
I have to speak briefly in the defense of some of the uncertain press that has come out with relation to Occupy Wall Street. This isn’t a defense saying they are accurate in their portrayals. It’s more of a defense to say that I can understand why they are reporting the way they are, even if you take out the bias of a corporate backing.
Most of them probably do not spend a large amount of time at the protests. They go down there, try to get a story in a few hours, and then leave. That is how most events are reported on. That is simply not how you can report on Occupy though. Occupy really is something that you have to immerse yourself in to fully understand what is happening.
What Occupy Wall Street really is, is the development of a community, and people working together. It’s NOT a protest in the general definition of the word. It might have started off as a protest but it has evolved so far from that point. It is also something that is very foreign to the press because, quite honestly, America has not seen this kind of interest in politics, ethics, or economics in quite a while. We kind of fell asleep. The years since the 2008 crash woke us up to realize “wait, what’s going on here?”
If I were to describe the movement in one phrase it would be this:
People are being inspired, and challenged, to realize that whether or not they talk about what’s going on in their country, and other countries around the world, it will affect them no matter what. It’s really quite remarkable.
Occupy Wall Street is not simply a protest of demands. It is a protest of complacency. It is a community which has finally realized, “we’re all in this together, and if we don’t act fast and start getting active in our country, we’re are REALLY going to be in trouble.”
The reason I’m putting this forward is because, for quite a while, (after the first) week I didn’t even know what the fuck it was. I came because I saw a chance to protest and other people interested in a protest. After a week I had no clue what was going on, but I knew that I liked being there. I was refreshed by the idea that some people were finally taking interest in the issues again, and in a very open, public atmosphere as well. I was often asked the question, “what now, what are you guys doing?” Pretty much every time my answer was: “I’m not sure, but what I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt is that it’s getting people talking again.” I didn’t really understand the significance of this until recently.
What you are dealing with at Zuccotti Park is NOT a protest at all. There is protesting involved of course, and that element will never leave it. The idea behind Occupy Wall Street though has developed into something else far more impressive. It has developed into an idea to try and fix what has gone wrong, to figure out what the fuck happened to let it get so wrong, and to get active again.
What has made me so proud of it though is something else: It is populated by some of the most intelligent, resourceful, resilient, and well-intentioned people I have EVER met in my life and I consider it an honor to be part of such a beautiful thing. By the way, I don’t see it ending any time soon either and I’m glad. I can’t imagine how they’ll make it through the winter, but I’ve already seen some incredibly amazing things happen in just one month, and I have a feeling we’ve all only seen a very small glimmer of what this group is truly capable of. Keep an eye open, we’re watching history… smelling it too lol

BEACH REPORT:
How To Regain Our Democracy
by Cenk Uygur | October 20, 2011 - 10:37am
Declaration of Independence
Our politicians are bought. Everyone knows it. Conservatives know it just as much as liberals do. And libertarians have probably known it all along. The Democrats are bought and the Republicans even more so. They don't represent us. They represent their donors. We have taxation without representation. Our democracy is in serious trouble.
We must regain our ability to make a difference, to have our votes count. Right now, corporate interests and special interests dominate our politics because they can spend unlimited money. Unfortunately, in this current system money speaks louder than words. The pen might be mightier than the sword, but the checkbook is far mightier than the pen. In the congressional races in 2008, the candidate who had more money won more than 93% of the time. Our representatives don't serve us; they serve the people who pay them -- their corporate funders.
So, how can we change that? Well, we can build an army of American citizens willing to fight back against the corporate machines. We can also fight money with money. But we have to concentrate all of our resources into one single attack -- making sure we take corporate money out of politics. Now, you can never stop rich people from spending their own money on their political ideology. But that has happened throughout our history and we have survived that. What has changed in the last 30 years is the power of corporate money, which is nearly unlimited.
Starting in 1978, the Supreme Court opened the spigot to corporate spending in politics. Since then, the average American has seen their wages stagnate and their share of taxes rise significantly, while corporations have seen their tax burden shrink and the top 1% has literally tripled their income. There has been a massive redistribution of wealth in this country. And it's going straight to the top.
There is one answer though. It is the one thing that is above Congress and the Supreme Court -- a constitutional amendment. We must pass an amendment saying that corporations are not people and they do not have the right to spend money to buy our politicians. Corporations have no soul. They are profit-making robots. They are not endowed by their creator with inalienable rights. They are legally created fictions that are charged with maximizing profit without any concern for morality. They can and they must be stopped before they destroy our democracy.
We are not against the existence of corporations, we are only against their ability to buy and control our government. Robots can be useful, but that doesn't mean we should let them run our democracy. We must not allow multinational corporations to infringe upon American sovereignty. This is supposed to be a democracy run by citizens, not by international, unaccountable business and financial interests.
The objective of Wolf Pac will be to raise money and raise an army for the sole purpose of passing this amendment. We need a constitutional revolution. Please join us and help retake our democracy.
28th Amendment
Corporations are not people. They have none of the constitutional rights of human beings. Corporations are not allowed to give money to any politician, directly or indirectly. No politician can raise over $100 from any person or entity. All elections must be publicly financed.
Join the Fight
Now, in order to make this amendment a reality, we must take a series of concrete steps. The objective of Wolf Pac is not theory, it is results. We will pass the amendment and we will regain our democracy. Here is how we're going to do it.
We must gather up an a fighting force. We need programmers and organizers and lawyers and leaders. We need this movement to be in all 50 states. So, first we are doing a call for generals in this army. Please write into us and tell us what your expertise is and how you can help. If you can volunteer, great; if you can contribute, great. But we need you no matter what. There is no secret money behind this. There is no profit in it other than for our democracy. That's why this movement must be people powered.
Unfortunately it appears that our Congress is completely infected with the virus. So proposing an amendment through Congress seems hopeless. But luckily there is another way. We can do this purely at the state level. The states can call for a constitutional convention and they can ratify an amendment that comes out of one. And there is nothing our corrupt federal government can do about it.
We are hoping that the first wave of volunteers help us organize at the state level. Let's go occupy the states! Can you imagine all 50 state houses occupied until the people get what they want -- their democracy back! It can happen. You can make it happen. Joint the fight. Now, it's our time. Get up, it's time to get them back.
Join Wolf Pac Here.

MY TAKE:
Its a good idea and IMO one the only ways we can return the country back to some semblence of Gov't by and for HUMAN people, not the blood sucking profit machines known as Int'l Corps. masquerading as people. Corp. person hood is a fiction that is destroying the country and doing it fast. This might be a movement with real legs.
